Each October, John and I drive to a local farm a few miles down the road and buy 36 small pumpkins to put on each of the fence posts that mark our property and also atop the Chickadee Hill signpost by the entrance to our property. Then we buy several large pumpkins of various sizes for the front porch and for the steps outside my writing studio. This makes for a very festive fall look with all our mums along the fences and in The Secret Garden.We make a big event of every season and our neighbors and friends have come to expect this from us. I LOVE LIFE.....every part of it and I celebrate it every way I can. We leave our pumpkins out until after Thanksgiving and then replace them with garlands, bows and wreaths to get us through the winter. A few years ago we started having an accidental pumpkin patch on the hillside toward the lake where we have placed our pumpkins to return to the earth.
